From Waimea:

Out of Waimea take highway 19 headed west until you come to the junction of highway 19 and 250 ( the Kohala Mountain Road) travel approximately 19 miles until you see the sign pointing left “Hawi 2 miles” head down the hill until you come to the stop sign (in front of an unmarked gas station). Turn right and go down the hill where the speed limit is 25 MPH. Travel about two tenths of a mile until you see the 35 MPH sign. Turn right just before it and your on a gravel road. Almost immediately you will have 3 driveways choices. Take the middle road. There is a small sign that says Kokolulu. Go up that road about 100 yards and take your first and only left. There is another small sign that says Kokolulu Orkanic Farm. Just inside that opening is another sign on a rock pillar that spells out Kokolulu. Go up that driveway to the top and you have arrived.

Travel approximately 18 miles until you reach the old Hawaiian town of Hawi. Orient yourself at the intersection in the center of Hawi. (Shige’s) gas station on the right side (mauka). Continue on the highway past this intersection, towards Kapaau and Pololu Valley. (But, don’t go that far!)

From Kapaau way: Head towards Hawi. Turn left into the little lane just opposite the green ‘Hawi Town’ sign (just past the power sub-station (on the left). The new Self-help housing project is the road to the right. Don’t go down there. You will see 3 options; take the center road. We are the next driveway/gate on the left. Gate will be open.
