Healing Retreats in Hawaii

The Big Island of Hawaii is the idyllic setting for the training and experience of a broad range of offerings of  a Cancer Retreat in Hawaii.  This was the location for the training and initiation of healers from all the islands; the place where elders came together to share their wisdom. Here is a majestic marriage of the Pacific Ocean, the most newly formed, growing, and isolated landmass, clear access to heavens and magic winds.  Scientific research on the indigenous traditions, the most culturally diverse population in the United States, the rich botanical array and varied marine biology continue to support the extent and natural diversity of the healing resources.

The Island of Hawaii is also a place which is consciously developing an integrated form of healthcare that addresses mind, body, spirit, nature and community.

Kokolulu Farm and Retreats in Hawaii is located on the northern tip of this beautiful, healing island.  Here youíll have an opportunity to completely relax and center yourself.  Rise early and peacefully as your body gets back to a natural rhythm.  Join us in the temple for a relaxing morning session for healing Qigong.  Then lounge on the lanai as the trade winds blow softly.  Close your eyes and take a deep breath of fresh air.  As you exhale and open your eyes you will witness the magnificence of the electric blue ocean right there in front of you.  Enjoy a healthy breakfast prepared especially for you.  Take your time; absorb this beautiful place, set intention to heal.  You're on island time now.

The Farm and Retreats in Hawaii Center is designed so that clients feel at home and can move freely around facilities as and when they wish.  The emphasis is on a warm, stress free and welcoming environment, with no pressure to partake in any activity or therapy which does not appeal to or suit the individual.

You will learn the ancient art of Qigong  to help you center your days and balance and heal your life. Lew and Karin have studied with Master Zhong in China for 10 yrs, as well as with other Chinese Masters for the past 15 years, and are now passing on this knowledge right here in Hawaii.

As the sun rises in the sky allow your body some much needed rest.  Lie back in the warm sun or find a little nook in the bamboo.

We are a fiscally sponsored non-profit cancer retreat program that uses holistic alternative therapies, nutritional, guided imagery, meditation, and psychological counseling, spiritual development, and exercise.

Your healing journey will be individualized to your own unique needs.  It begins with your initial contact with us.  We will work with you to design your own program, using integrative techniques as described below.

Your healing journey is of primary importance to us. While at Kokolulu, you will become part of our Ohana (family) here. We take our meals together, family style. We live much of our daily lives family style. We talk, work, play and heal together.  The kitchen at Kokolulu Farm and Retreats in Hawaii Center will serve organic and vegetarian meals.  Comfort is an essential factor; a goal of the program is to provide nurturing in every way.

Holistic Alternative Therapies

Holistic Alternative therapies and stress management tools that include massage, guided imagery, Qigong, Reiki, meditation, acupuncture, herbal remedies and more, are an integral part of the KoKoLuLu model and are used as a means to help facilitate self-awareness and healing. When combined with program elements such as nutritional diet, exercise, education, individual and group therapy, they contribute towards a holistic approach to the healing process.

Our Labyrinth

Qigong

Qigong (also spelled chi kung) is a practice that is over 4000 years old in China. It is meditative, healing and spiritual and has been found to be a powerful way to improve and maintain health, treat disease/addictions, and cultivate wisdom. (READ MORE)

Zhong Guo Hui Gong Therapy

We use the very powerful Zhong Guo Hui Gong (Chinese Wisdom Super Energy Qigong) Therapy Treatment developed by Master Zhang, Yu Lei in Mainland China. This treatment has been used successfully in treating chronic illnesses, diseases, addictions, and behavior disorders without the use of medication. Master Zhang has successfully treated tens of  thousands of individuals in China. His program has been approved by the Chinese government.
In 1998 Lew and Karin brought this process to the United States and have successfully incorporated it into the healing programs at KoKoLuLu. They  both continue to study with Master Zhang in China and consult with him on a regular basis.
    How it works in healing:
It is well know that the heart and the brain are interconnected - one cannot function properly without the other.
When an individual is affected by the abuse of drugs/alcohol, poisons of  medication, the stresses of life (within family, school, job, and community environments), environmental pollution, inadequate nutrition (including processed foods or foods tainted with pesticides), lack of appropriate exercise, or other negative influences, damage can occur to the connection between the heart and brain. These two critically important organs are like the control centers for the entire body. The brain is the master computer, when damage occurs it is like a major glitch in the hard drive. The heart is said to be the home of spirit. When damage occurs to either the heart or the brain it affects the other organ. Once the damage occurs it puts the person at risk for major health problems both  physically and mentally.
Zhong Guo Hui Gong (along with proper exercise, nutrition, and a positive environment) repairs the connection between the heart and brain, allowing the person to regain their inherit goodness, physical and mental health.

Massage Therapy
The use of massage therapy can help speed up the body's natural healing processes. Please obtain a signed permission form from your physician for massage therapy.

Reiki
Reiki is a very simple and non-invasive form of healing. It is an ancient energy healing art, combining Tibetan symbols and specific laying on of hands techniques to channel the universal life force with intention to heal, harmonize and balance all levels of the clientís being. Reiki involves the transfer of energy from practitioner to client to enhance the body's natural ability to heal itself through the balancing of energy. Reiki utilizes specific techniques for restoring and balancing the natural life force energy within the body. It is a holistic, natural, hands-on energy healing system that touches on all levels: body, mind, and spirit.

Acupuncture
When appropriate, we use auricular acupuncture to help our clients though the healing stages.  There is something magical in those ten tiny needles placed in the ear. Many are amazed by the immediate feelings of peace, well-being and relaxation.

Meditation
There are many things in life that are beyond our control. However, it is possible to take responsibility for and to change our own state of mind. This is the most important thing we can do. Meditation is an antidote to the stresses of anxiety, hatred, discontentedness, sleepiness, and confusion.
Meditation is a way to transform the mind. Meditation is a technique that  encourages and develops concentration, clarity, and emotional stability. By practicing regular meditation one learns the patterns and habits of the mind, and the practice helps to cultivate new, more positive ways of being. With discipline and patience these calm and focused states of mind can deepen into profoundly tranquil and energized states of mind. Such experiences can have a transformative effect and can lead to a new understanding of life.
The techniques of meditation are very simple. However, reading about    them is no substitute for learning from an experienced and reliable teacher. At KoKoLuLu, a teacher will be able to offer you guidance in how to apply the technique and how to deal with difficulties. Perhaps most importantly, this teacher can offer encouragement and inspiration by their own  example.

Spiritual Development
Many people describe themselves as experiencing a spiritual void. Spirituality can be an aspect of oneself that is quickly lost in the journey through dis-ease. At KoKoLuLu we believe that we create a sacred environment for people to discover, or perhaps re-discover, their connection with a Higher Power, however they may identify it.

Exercise
Daily exercise is a crucial component to the healing journey. Our fitness team works together to assess the appropriate level of activity for each individual.
Clients participate in a variety of exercise activities including but not    limited to: daily walking routines; Qigong; Yoga; muscle toning; stretching exercises, working in the garden, and walks into town or on the beach.
